Supermarket shopping on the Norfolk Broads

Where to find supermarkets that can be easily accessed from your sailing boat mooring.

There are two big supermarkets that are accessible from the broads, Roys of Wroxham and Tescos at Stalham. The moorings at Stalham are harder to find; below is a short guide and map of how to access the moorings at Stalham and the places you can visit from there.

There are 3 or 4 free 24 mooring spots here which we like to take advantage of. You also have access to a selection of takeaways and other shops.

Tesco is about 10 minutes walk from the moorings. Some of the walk is along a busy road and so we prefer to go in the early evening when it’s a bit quieter.

From here you can also access the Museum of the Broads, which is open 11am - 3pm Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

These free moorings are very handy for Tesco's but there's only room for 3 or 4 boats.

Roys of Wroxham

There are free24 hour Broads Authority moorings at Wroxham, our favourites moorings are on the Coltishall side of the bridge on the left hand side. It is a pleasant 5 minute walk to Roys Supermarket and the moorings are suprisingly quiet.

Roy's of Wroxham is an iconic and beloved institution nestled in the heart of Wroxham, a picturesque village in the Norfolk Broads of England. This family-run department store has been a cherished destination for locals and visitors alike for over a century. Offering a diverse range of products, from clothing and homeware to gardening supplies and gourmet foods, Roy's has something for everyone. When you have stocked up on your food supplies, why not head off and explore this beautiful part of the Norfolk Broads? Wroxham broad is fabulous for sailing on, then pass Belaugh where we started our sailing holiday business, and on to Calishall and its 3 great pubs. It is not possible to sail all the way because of the trees.
